Having a social media marketing strategy is integral to promoting your business to its maximum potential. However, having a calendar within that strategy is crucial so that you do not miss an opportunity to market particular dates and events.

Here are key dates for salons, clinics and spas to mark in your calendars so that you can market products, services, promotions and packages in advance!

January- The New Year

As we all know, the new year is a period when we try to shift our worst habits and work on our new and improved selves. However, for many, it also marks a time of strict budgeting after the expenditure of Christmas. So, launching a clever promotional campaign is key to maintaining sales and income over the month of January. Market products and services towards developing a ‘new you’, being sure to emphasise transformation and fresh starts.

January 15th - Clean Beauty Day

Clean beauty day is a great opportunity to promote products that are environmentally friendly and stress your business’ commitment to sustainability.

February 14th - Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to offer product bundles and gift packages. Also be sure to run some promotions on treatments to help prepare for the ultimate date night!

February 28th - International Self-Care Day

There is nothing more effective in convincing someone to treat themselves than by promoting it as self-care, giving the impression it is an investment in oneself rather than a frivolous spend. So, be sure to curate a marketing strategy that highlights the best products to purchase for at-home treatments and skincare, as well as in-salon treatments that someone may not invest their money in otherwise.

March 8th - International Women’s Day

Market skin-care bundles and promotional spa sets and be sure to encourage women to look after and invest in themselves to celebrate being women.

March - Mother’s Day

Keep an eye out for the particular date of Mother’s day wherever your business is situated - in Ireland, it is in March. Marketing products towards mothers as well as running some mother-and-daughter promotions will be important in your marketing strategy.

April 30th - Innovation Day

This is the perfect opportunity to market your business and why it is innovative and unique. Be sure to promote any new developments in your business, from investment to equipment!

May 21st - World Diversity Day

Be sure to market your products and brands that promote inclusivity and diversity in the beauty industry.

May 27 - Sun Protection Day

This day is crucial in promoting the importance of SPF skincare, and a great opportunity to debunk some sun-protection myths.

June & July - Summer!

Remember all that comes with summer - holidays, sun, outdoor events and more! Create and market packages that include numerous treatments to prep for holidays, and make sure to reinforce the importance of using SPF, especially in the sun. Be sure to highlight good quality brands and products to use in the sun.

August - National Wellness Month

Encourage clients to make wellness a priority and invest in themselves with treatments and must-have products.

October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Be sure to promote brands and products that are safe to use for those undergoing treatments for breast cancer, highlight brands dedicated to donating funds towards breast cancer charities and research, as well as providing information on how to look out for signs of breast cancer.

October 15th - National Aesthetician Day

Running a promotion to celebrate the day for aesthetic clinics and get clients in the door can be a great opportunity to boost sales. Also be sure to promote professional beauty brand and products dedicated to aesthetic practices and care.

October 31 - Halloween

Halloween brings not only party and celebration, but is also a huge day for makeup and beauty transformation! Promoting skin prep as a way to enhance such transformations and keep makeup and elements set through a whole night of celebration is a great way to market treatments and products.

November - Black Friday & Cyber Monday

This is the biggest sales day of the entire year! If you are going to take note of any day and develop a specific marketing strategy for it, make it this one. Plan major promotions and discounts to drive sales and attract customers to you as opposed to your competitors. Make sure your online systems and website are up to scratch to prevent any complications which could deter customers and clients.

Glow Up Marketing will be providing plenty of information and advice on developing a Black Friday marketing strategy - keep an eye on our website and socials.

December - Holiday Season

The festive season, as well as the season of giving. Create gift bundles which can be marketed towards different and specific demographics - for wives, mothers, etc. As this is the season of work parties, celebrations and even weddings, marketing your treatments and running promotions in the form of bundles is the best marketing strategy here. This will be your last opportunity to clear out your inventory and maximise your bookings and sales before the end of the year. Remember, this is one of the few times of year people do not need to be convinced to spend money as gift-giving is a necessity, so attracting customers to your business specifically by marketing your products and services as special and unique to gain an edge on competitors is what will prove effective here.

Be sure to mark these dates on your calendars and customise your social media marketing strategy to increase your engagement, bookings and sales! Check out our the resources on our website for free ebooks with provided content and tips and trick to social media marketing here
