Timeline of the Trading online voucher - application, implementation, results

By now, most businesses in Ireland have heard of the Trading Online Voucher (TOV). If you haven’t, see our blog  What is the "Online Trading voucher"? Get €2,500 towards a salon website and social media. - Glow Up Marketing.

However, you may have more questions about the whole process and what you should expect to go through. Here is a breakdown of the timeline, from your application to the results you can expect to see.

How Exactly Do I Apply for a TOV?

The application process is quite simple and can be broken down into four individual steps.

1.      Register for a Webinar:

The first step is attending a mandatory webinar which outlines all the necessary information. All of the Local Enterprise Boars in Ireland run these webinars, so click here to find your local branch and register for an upcoming date that suits (LEO & Údarás Offices - Business Grants)

2.      Get Quotations:

The next step is contacting some website agencies to obtain quotations for your online project. These will need to be registered companies and not freelancers. You will need three quotations, but you do not need to go with the cheapest; be sure to go with what you believe will be the right fit for your business.

3.      Complete the Application:

The next step is completing the online application form, which is relatively quick and easy. You will be asked some questions about your business and the project you will be undertaking. This typically takes just about an hour.

4.      Approval:

Successful applicants are usually notified within 4 weeks through a Letter of Offer. You will then have 3 months to implement the project and drawdown your funds. Most TOV projects are divided into two drawdown phases, one covering upfront costs such as building a new website and the second covering additional service costs once the site is launches such as SEO training, digital marketing etc. If you need more time than the initial 3-month period, you can apply for an extra month from your Local Enterprise Office within two weeks of your original deadline.

However, this grant scheme finishes on the 30th of September!

After this you will no longer be able to apply for the grant. If you wish to improve your website, social media marketing, branding and paid advertising, apply for the TOV to avail of €2,500 towards your business now!

This may seem like an overwhelming amount of information to take in, but the TOV has numerous benefits that can launch your business towards online success in a world where so much commerce and trading takes place online. If you outline a plan for yourself within the numbered steps above, you will find the whole process easier to complete.

Remember, the aim of the whole scheme is to ease the burden and cost of businesses who wish to create or enhance their online presence; it is there to help!
